Drawing on Fate - Artist: Toshio Kajiyama
Noriaki Saito 2009
Categories: Documentaries
Average Rating:
Rated 0.0/5 Stars
My Rating:
Run time: 68 min. | Japan
Prolific artist Toshio Kajiyama has illustrated picture books and picture scrolls, painted porcelain and glass, and made woodblock prints. Kajiyama will paint an abstract ink piece covering this canvas at the zen temple of Erinji in Wadayama, northern Hyogo Prefecture, all the while conscious of both heaven and earth.
This documentary captures on camera the space and time that fused together Japanese culture and Kajiyama's sensibility. Various encounters led to this painting—encounters with people, with the canvas and with his own inner breath.
